These
fiendish foes exist only where there are rocks! Shooting at these enemies
will cause them to tranform into rocks for a short period of time. You may
use this tactic during the game, to retrieve certain items located in areas
high above ground. Owning an Nes Max controller makes things a lot less
painful and frustrating...
Flying
Toucan
Reminiscent of the falcon from Ninja Gaiden, these birds like to weave across
the screen one after the other. They're especially annoying when you're
jumping across the river, from vine to vine in the beginnings of the Maize
Maze stage.
Snake
These
slizzerly creatures lay stationary on the path while bobbing their head
up and down. 2 solid hits should keep them from blocking your path!
Bald
Apple
One shot with your juice gun, should do these annoying enemies in. Keep
your guard up at all times, for one seems to spawn after another. It
can get especially frustrating on difficult mode when they fly down the
vines one after another
Native
Apple
Watch Out!! These clever devils will shoot feathered darts in your direction
if you touch paths with them. On difficult mode, stay clear of these
enemies at all times. It’s almost impossible to dodge their blows
once they’ve been shot.
Centurion
Apple
These guys tend to roam the paths with an arrogance to be reckoned with!
A new enemy spawns as a result of another leaving the screen. They shouldn’t
be too difficult if you can time your shots right.
Factory
Working Apple
Factory workers show up in the juice factory stage. They behave much like
any other typical scrolling enemy of this game. Once you have a bead on
them, shoot away! One hit is all it takes to finish off these fruitcakes.
Count
Apple
These
blood sucking dracula-like enemies, walk around aimlessly looking for a
vulnerable victim to prey on. Don't be intimidated by their ghoulish green
faces. One hit will send them to their doom! California Raisins was
intended to be marketed towards young children ages 3 and up. Doesn't this
character remind you of Count Frogula from Sesame Street?
Adolescent
Apple
Don’t
be fooled by these innocent looking youngsters. If you’re not too
careful, these flying tykes could easily knock you into the jelly vat. Try
and anticipate their movements as they bounce around the screen. It’s
inevitable that you will touch spaces with one of these characters, eventually…One
hit sends them crying to their mommies!
Grape
Lady
Quite
possibly my favorite characters in the game. Just look at them!!! It's a
head of grapes haha...ok I'm done.
These
cute looking ladies prowl the Grape Vine stage. They may look all hunky-dorry
and friendly, but they're NOT! On difficult mode, you may
find in some situations it impossible to dodge an attack from the grape
lady. Luckily she only takes one hit.
Alien
Apple
Much
like the adolescent apples, these "spacey" characters bounce around
the screen and block your path in the process. These are probably the most
difficult enemies you'll ever encounter in the game. On difficult mode,
try and keep these creatures on the screen, rather than killing them. In
some cases a minor bug may cause them to get stuck to the ceiling while
you're crossing the jelly vat. They take two hits to kill.
Mad
Bomber
This
persistent plane drops grape-like bombs ontop of you, as you're running
across the grape vines (atop the clouds). Try and avoid these enemies
at all costs. It's incredibly difficult to time your jumps with the bombs
being dropped. However, successful journeys passed these foes, doesn't
come un-rewarded. Doesn't that look like a pear's flying the plane?
Giant
Head Gate
This
humungous head creature appears only once in the game. It appears in the
Maize Maze level right at the end of the above-ground portion of the stage.
Its only weakness is its nose. Breaking the nose with your jelly fire, will
reveal a hidden gate allowing you access to the underground maze! I
really have no idea as to why they'd include such a character
in the game...
