Whenever
the summer comes around there's always an influx of new nes sites
to the scene. Most of them update okay until summer ends as people
have to get back to their daily lives (if they have one). This is
pretty understandable. Most people have other more important obligations
outside of the internet world which may interfere with the time factor
of actually keeping a site up to date. I hate the idea of being held
hostage by your own web site. That's why I'll never set a date on
anything I do ("we update daily!"). It's to much pressure
for me. I'd rather go at my own pace and submit good quality stuff
people will appreciate. There's no point in updating just for the
sake of UPDATING! Maybe if I had a staff working for me I'd be able
to submit things more regularily. I thought
this topic was about nesland? Seeing that this rant has
veered way off topic, I'll just go onto the next paragraph...nesland |

| I first
heard about Nesland over at NES World's messageboard in June of 2003. Ernster
seemed like an enthusiastic person who was very fond of his own website.
He sounded like an okay guy that just liked spamming a lot (what do you
think of my site?). He also liked comparing Nes Land to Nes World. Martin
didn't take his agressive humor lightly though and eventually after enough
aggravation over stupid topics like "The Official Nes Land Thread",
Ernster was banned from Nesworld FOREVER!!!!!...how
dramatic |

| After
a couple flaming incidence involving a few regulars from Nesland's messageboard,
the webmaster of nesplayer posted a topic at Nesland regarding an article
on Ernster's site. Here's what happened... |

| Hi,
a little bit of advice. |

This isn't really a complaint, just some advice for you later. If
you're trying to report on something hardware or history, feel free
to browse around other NES fansites to get the information. Just make
sure to add a foot note at the end of the article if you use any kind
of images or lengthly descriptions.
For example:
I could tell you used this page http://www.nesplayer.com/features/gameaxe/index.htm
to write http://home.iprimus.com.au/ernecwf/gameaxe.htm.
How would I know? First of all, you saved and used one of the images
off there. Second of all, compare this one paragraph of the off-site
to your site:
Off-site: While the Game Axe supports NES games perfectly, a NES-to-Famicom
adapter is required, and that's where the problems lie. First, the
adapter and the cartridge together stick out about half a foot from
the system. This is more of a cosmetic than a functionallity issue,
however, since the balance of the system isn't thrown off. Game crashes
and inference can occur, however, if the cart is jiggled too much;
a problem for playing while moving around. A solid adapter should
remedy this, but even then, NES games won't fit solidly into the system.
Your-site: OK the best feature of the Game Axe Color is the ability
to play NES games but only if you use a Famicom to NES converter.
There is a problem with tsi though. The adapter and the cartridge
together stick out about half a foot from the system. Here is a piture
of a converter and a game inserted in the Game Axe Color This is more
of a visual disdvantage than a functionallity issue, however, since
the balance of the system isn't thrown off. Game crashes and interference
can occur if the cart is moved too much during gameplay. A solid adapter
should remedy this problem.
There's nothing wrong with re-wording or using other people's words,
just make sure you give them the credit they deserve.
Best of luck to you on the site! |

| I
totally agree with Groxx here. Ernster cleary stole/borrowed a piece of
this article and called it his own. Why not come up with your own ideas?
Can't you think for youself? Or are you too dumb to write an article with
your own voice and opinions? |

You give us best of luck and hide a flame in the comparision? Whatever.
And people complain that I seem bitter. |

| blah

What's
your problem? I'm not sure you understand what a flame is. There's
nothing hidden in the comparison, I'm just comparing the 2 articles
as an example.
I did not write the article, a friend of mine did, and I thought it
was sort of unfair to do that.
I wished you luck because I didn't want the post to sound entirely
negative. I think the site has a lot of potential. Sorry if this site
doesn't accept suggestions. Take it easy. |

On
behalf of Nestimes and all the other respective Nes sites on the internet
(except nesplayer), I hereby present Nesland with one of the most
prestigious and honorable awards a website can possibly receive....of
course I'm talking about:
THE AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN PLAGIARISM!!!!!!!
Ernster you are MORE than welcome to post this banner on your main
page if you like. Or even better, at the end of the game axe article
on your site! Whatever fits best I guess. Here's the link to the banner:
http://nestimes.silius.net/awards/nesland/plagiarism.gif
Once again thank you SO MUCH for creating such an innovatively original
site that you can honestly call your own. Take care and best wishes
in the future! |
|
| Hopefully
you caught on to my blatantly obvious sarcasms! I couldn't resist the temptation
of starting yet another "exciting" flame war. |
