I've come to realize that world negative one is essentially
the "water" version
of World 1. There are many differences in the levels,
but over-all I get the same impression. In the castle,
fish and squid roam the floors with the "usual" fireballs"
you see in the picture on the left. I found it quite peculiar
that you would have lava in a water temple. But I guess,
when you think about it, you can find lava just about
anywhere because the heat is just so intense. |
| I
swam towards the whiffs of fire not knowing what
I was going to see. To my delight I saw Koopa! The
one thing that really caught my eyes once I made
it to this point, was THAT green platform you see
in the screen shot. Usually you would see a group
of blocks or possibly a moving yellow platform.
But in this case, it was a GREEN
platform seen in most underwater levels. These were
the "little things" that really separated
a normal level from this one. Other than that, the
idea was the same. Get to that axe! Obviously I
got there without a struggle and this is what I
found........ |

| note.
I was very curious to find out what this Koopa would
turn into if I killed him with fireballs. So I came
back into the level as fire mario and to my dismay
he turned into a fish. |

| WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT??!! A GREEN
toadstool!! I honestly didn't know how to react.
How do you prepare yourself for something like this
(lol)? I was speechless. I guess she is supposed
to be an aqua toad or something like that.
Who knows. After this level it brought me RIGHT
back to World 1. What about World 0?
I guess someone else will have to figure that one
out hehe. |

| I
urge ANYONE
regardless of your age or knowledge of this series,
to pick up a controller and try this out. JUST
TRY IT!!! You won't be disappointed
I'm telling you. I find it so amazing that such
a level could go un-noticed for so many years, and
just out of nowhere pop up like it had been there
all along. Thats why the NES has such a strong cult
community. |

| Last
summer for a VERY brief period of time, I actually
got back into playing my own nes games. One of the
games I started to play quite frequently was Zelda
II, "The Adventure of Link". I don't really
consider myself a "Master"
of the game, but I handle my own out on the battlefield.
Anyways, I managed to finish all of the 6 palaces
quite handily leading up to the Great Palace. Things
were looking very optimistic. But in Zelda II as
we all know, things can change quite abruptly during
the "Road to the Great Palace". Usually
I prefer to race to the end pretty much as fast
as I can and try and salvage whatever life I have
left for the Great Palace. Yet I've always wondered
if infact there was some hidden "secret"
nobody has ever found in this part of the game.
My hopes were far fetched considering Zelda II has
numerous faqs on gamefaqs
that constantly get refined over time. But there
is ONE minor prize on the way to the great palace.
A magic bag which gives you a lousy 500 Experience
points. We all know that experience points mean
nothing at this stage in the game. This wasn't the
cloak-and-dagger I had in mind. Disappointed by
my lack of finds, I headed towards the Great Palace.
On the way up, the usual group of black enemies
appeared on the screen and proceeded towards me.
In an attempt to dodge them, I moved my controller
to the right not knowing what I was about to discover.
Could it have been a glitch in the game? Or possibly
a genuinely true FIND? |
