-Remembering the times spent growing up, playing the Nes-

By now everyone's probably heard about nintendo's "illusive" World -1. I've always wondered WHY it's considered a world, if there's only one level. So I decided to do some investigating to see if infact this was true. Loaded up my emulator and started playing. Once I got there it seemed the level just repeated itself over and over until you ran out of time. That is, if you took the wrong route. Through trial and error I've discovered that if you take a certain route in the level AND get all the coins, the wall above the warp zone seen in the picture to the left BECOMES transparent to the player, and Mario can swim right through unscaved.
This was obviously a huge find for me! I couldn't believe it! Remember that Castle "Maze"in Super Mario Brothers that just kept on repeating itself over and over again, if you didn't follow a certain path? This level is essentially the same thing! I still haven't totally figured out the exact route.Checkout this link if you need a visual view of the whole thing:

World -1 Map

Once I've figured out the EXACT route, I'll make a little stage map to show you exactly how to go through the level. I know at the end you need to swim under the first platform and up atop both of the last two. It may sound difficult, but believe me, its not!
So where does this warp zone take us exactly? Your guess was as good as mine. It turns out we go down a pipe into a level quite similar to level 2 in World 1. Notice any differences in the screenshot to the left? I thought so.

Here's where it really got interesting. A Water Castle!!!! I couldn't believe what I saw. A castle under water! WOW. How could a secret so obvious, yet misleading be hidden from our eyes for so long? Its unimaginable. At this point I was beyond comprehension. It was surreal!

note. Instead of walking into the castle, Mario swims in. I thought that was really neat.
But where does this mysterious door I just so happened to stumble upon, lead to? Needless to say, there were A LOT of questions to be answered as a approached the door. next page
